I was wondering why my computer was asking permission to accept connections from the web. So I had a browse through the proicesses that are running and found WDC.exe and Googled it and came up with some worrying posts.
Does anyone here know what this is and is it as they say a keystroke recorder??

Well its not in the log. Look for it see where it is and who made the file / program

Uninstall AVG, since Avast is installed. You're using people near me or something arent you?

This doesnt have to be in startup

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime

Get rid of this

C:\Program Files\Software Informer\softinfo.exe

18-01-2010, 04:53 PM
Can't find it. Tried to search it but also not found.

Well uninstall that program by software informer, then do a full scan with malwarebytes or something. Once you update it

18-01-2010, 07:43 PM
OK malwarebytes shows no infections.
AVG doesn't show up in the program list in add/remove programs. I am sure I removed it when I d/loaded avast.
Removed software informer.
WDC.exe still shows in processes.

Well click on file location. It must be somewhere if its in task manager!

18-01-2010, 08:16 PM

18-01-2010, 08:35 PM

Speedy Gonzales
18-01-2010, 08:36 PM
Are you looking in task manager?

18-01-2010, 08:38 PM
Ok, if I click on the item att00026.txt, which comes up in the search panel when I search for WDC.exe, I get a message that COM surrogate is trying to access the internet.
