View Full Version : Freeview Tru or Upscaled HD Sat received PVR

I'm looking for a good, moderately /cheap priced Freeview Satellite PVR. I understand Freeview may not be available in true HD on Sat but maybe upscaled?

Also can I just use the Sky dish to access the Freeview with the PVR?

Grateful if someone can recommend a good unit that I can buy Auckland (West Auckland preferred).

Thanks in advance!

No satellite will be SD not upscaled. Cant see why the dish wont work

Can you get upscaled HD quality with the above?

You'll prob get HD since thats terrestrial, which supports HD. As it says it upscales SD

Hi could anyone tell me if this would be any good:
I am looking for a satellite receiver with HD like picture quality, able to work like a PVR. And easy setup and that I can just use my sky satellite dish connection.

Thanks in advance!

Are you listening?? You'll only get SD not HD with satellite. And as that site says it upscales it to 1080i. To look like HD

But did you look at the listing, it is claiming you CAN get HD tv, are they wrong?

Thats probably because it upscales it. Thats if you use HDMI. As we've already said satellite DOESN'T support HD. Like terrestrial. No satellite receiver supports HD

meh, we are all still learning, No one knows everything, and questions must be asked, sometimes twice.

Looks like a reasonable unit to me, Though you would need to test one to see if the picture quality was better with the box upscaling it.

Are you familiar with the term upscaling?
