Have you tried downloading something tonight thats pretty big (from overseas)?

The prob isnt here, but I noticed after 8 tonight, everything is slow (as in downloads). Downloads are downloading at 3x the speed of dialup. And no I havent gone over my cap (I've only used 3 GB of 15 ). And updating programs is slow as well

I thought downloading from gameplanet would be faster (it was), but at 89-92k. Thats not that fast locally. So, anyone on Xnet, having the same probs tonight?

Not just you. I've noticed lately for the past few weeks that down and up were both slower than usual.

I'm downloading something from GPDownloads (~50-80k) and it's much slower than what it used to be (200-400k)

Thats good to know. At least its not me. The ATI site is usually fast as well. Since I think it uses Akamai servers. But that was just as slow. I was getting a corel program (which I think also uses Akamai servers). That was just as bad. The download started high, but then started going backwards. I sent an email to Xnet, to tell them the prob. And said the prob isnt here. It's either the servers somewhere are screwed. Or hopefully they havent put me down to dialup speed (since I havent got over my cap - the most I've used in a mth for the last 2-3 years is 10 GB)

hmm doing a tracert to microsoft and apple. On hop 7 (6 for people with modem router combo) it slows down heaps. 114.31.199.36

Well, as usual they've given the usual BS excuse. Which I dont accept

International broadband speeds are not guaranteed and will vary from time to time. This can be due to exchange congestion, network issues or a general lack of international traffic at the time, none of which I am aware of from last night.

the server on which the tracert slowed down was something.net.au

Bumping up to find that speeds are back to 'normal'

Yer same here. Think I may change anyway. Go back to Xtra on their adventure plan for $60 a mth. At least it'll be ADSL2
