I have been reading the article on W7 in the November PC World. I have the following comments:-

Concerning some hardware not supporting the virtual XP.
1] All my software from 1994 works inW7 as is. The only exception is "Mighty Fax" which because it changed ownership became "Essential Fax" so there was no Vista printer driver for it. Even the old "Super Voice" runs on it, as does "Professional File" in "Dos box2". If you need to, just Dual boot XP on another partition.
2] A lot of XP drivers will work in W7. It is the installer which creates the problem. Just locate the correct .inf file and point the installer to it.
3] W7 will run on on just about any computer, so long as the RAM & HD are big enough.

3) In order to run it smoothly, don't forget the CPU as well.

a good vidcard helps, depending on WHAT youre going to use it for. And it depends WHAT version of Win7 you install. I doubt you'll be able to install 32 bit drivers on a 64 bit system, without having probs, sooner or later
