View Full Version : Drivers for kid's mi snapz camera

My daughter got a Mi Snapz camera for her birthday, and I can't get it installed on my laptop to dowload the images. Windows 7 can't find the drivers for it.

Not sure if it came with drivers: the "friendly" people that helped her unwrap the present threw the packaging out.

Anyone know where to get the drivers for this camera? Or, who makes the camera? There are no markings on it at all other than the Mi Snapz logo.

Did a search for the drivers: plenty of places that used to sell it, but no drivers.

Connect it, then go to device manager. Double click on its entry, then go to the details tab. Change it to hardware IDs. Highlight what comes up, press ctrl-c to copy whats here. Then Ctrl-v to paste the info here. That'll give us an idea what to look for

You shouldn't need any drivers. If it's like every other digital camera out there, it will install itself as a USB flash drive when plugged in, then should open an Autoplay window from which you can access the photo files, but if it doesn't, look in Start button menu>Computer for a new drive letter (possibly a Removable Drive).
If it doesn't do any of that, I'd say the camera is faulty. :crying

That depends on what youre trying to do. If you want to use it as a webcam, (if it can be used as a webcam), you may need a driver. The cam here, came with a driver on CD. But if all you want to do, is copy photos across, buy a card reader, if the camera has a memory card slot on it

Yes, used to is the operative phrase.

I'd toss it out and buy her a real one.

Hardward ids from device manager are:

This is a cheap camera for a 5 year old. It doesn't have a memory card, only internal memory. Can't be used as a webcam.
All I need it to do is to let me access the internal memory so I can download her photos.

Did you try what I said in post #3?
Does the laptop recognise that you've plugged it in, and does it pop up any balloon tips or warnings when you do so, what do they say?

Yes, I'd say its a cheap chinese made toy.

Get her a real one off TM or somewhere, there are plenty of low-spec real cameras she can use.

Go to windows update (In the menu). Click on check for updates. See if windowsupdate can find one. If it doesnt find one, yup time to buy an up to date one
