Hey people i feel pretty crap now. Not really sure what to do. i feel so ashamed to be here sharing my story. I am 19 years old college student who actually need a life. I don't have a girl friend anymore. She dumped me because i been playing world of warcraft every single day. I been going out with her ever since we were high school students and it's all over now because of gaming. I just can't stop playing!

My friends introduced the game to me last year and i have a level 80 warrior (yay). I can't blame my mates as it was my choice to keep playing or not.

now i been watching adult videos just to get me happy. I am very depressed and lonely.

Not sure what to do myself, i can't just quit world of warcraft like that.

By the way, any wow players here?

I think you should grow up and be a man about this, it is no one else's fault except your own. I don't think you will get sympathy on here if you can't even do the simple stuff like switch that crap game off

Well, you are part way there Friend.

Step 1 Is to recognise you are addicted.

Step 2 Is to acknowledge the consequences (what you have lost).

Step 3 Is to ask for help. You are up to here already.

Step 4 Will be when you recognise that the answer has to come from within yourself and that other people can only offer encouragement.

Step 5 Is to turn off the computer and takes steps so that you can't just turn it on again. Take it somewhere and leave it while they delete WoW, and give them the disc as well, or cut it in half, which is even better and personally empowering.

Step 6 Is to begin reclaiming your life. Like drugs and alcohol, cold turkey is the best way and the pain doesn't last forever.

Then go out and enjoy your new life, see the sun, breathe the air, maybe even the girlfriend will see the changes and come back, who knows?

Be strong.

Cheers

I heard about a friend of mine in Indonesia whose friend was horribly addicted to WoW. Them being good friends, he took his friend's computer (yanked the whole thing off the wall etc), threw it outside, and another friend started to smash the crap out of it with a huge hammer.

I heard they're still good friends, and the addicted friend, addicted no more.

I think he deserves a bit of support rather than scorn. It's very easy to get hopelessly addicted to some things. :(

grahic, take the bull by the horns and follow Billy's advice right now and get your life back. And make a pact to stay away from all games or you will be right back at square one again.

On the other hand, if she won't accommodate one of your passions, maybe she just wasn't the right one for you.
Give yourself a week or so and you might suddenly realise you appreciate being free of her nagging.

MMO addiction is VERY different from other games I can testify myself after being addicted to one for about a year, until I realised the damage it was causing.

Good luck Grahic as stated b4, recognising the addiction means you are half way there, give it up and find other interests. Play other off-line non MMO's for a while, the types of games you can happily put down for a few days without even thinking about it.

Right.

Girlfriend, no girlfriend, what difference does it make?

I watched porn before I had a girlfriend. I watched it while I had a girlfriend. I watched it after I had a girlfriend. No connection between any of them, but unlike the girlfriend, the porn will always make me happy and I don't have to pay a cent towards it.

Uninstall the game
Change your password to a random sequence
Get friend to change your password and not tell them
Delete/'sell your account
Unsubscribe to your existing membership
Find something better to do than play WOW.. eg sports, tv, reading
Join sport/social clubs
Seek advice from a phycologist

Oh hai guise!

My advice, defiantly do not quit, nothing beats World of Warcraft, after all the time and effort you have invested into your warrior (albiet they have been nerfed to hell in the last few patches) they are still a bloody good class.
Fantastic tank still on equal par with a prot. paladin and freaking nasty in the arenas (unless facing frost mages like me ;))

What is your toons name and on which server do you play?
*please say Thaurissian*

You do know that IceCrown Citadel is out though?
The new raids are freaking awesome and we will finally have a chance to do battle with the Lich King and ~hopefully~ defeat him once and for all.

It's really simple... if the girl is gone there's more time to play WoW.
Sums it all up, kudos Greg :)

End of the day, WoW is always there for you, come back to the dark side.

Well I will admit it is so incredibly enjoyable I find myself spending a lot of time playing it.

Started on the 5th of May, and my in-game played time is sitting just a couple of hours short of 1,400 now.

So... doing the maths that is roughly 25% of my time (24 hour days) is on WoW :D:D

Yea we have a couple of people in our guild like that, usually go for the obvious combos of tank and heals, which I guess works rather well as you can communicate so easy and ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

I notice that Grahic hasn't been back for a while.

My guess is that all that immature crap from DemonHunter either made him lose the will to live or head off to another forum where he might get more relevant advice than another self-confessed addict can give.

You don't help an alcoholic by singing the virtues of getting smashed, or a drug addict by talking about the benefits of shooting up smack.

Billy

I'm insulted :horrified

Who cares anyway? :illogical The guy obviously loved the game (as we all do) and made it a priority in his life, so instead of moaning about the outcome of his enthusiasm for the game concentrate on the benefits. He now has a high lvl hopefully well geared warrior who can participate in the final chapter of the Warcraft series - the defeat of the Lich King himself.

And for those of you who don't follow this, these has been a storyline beginning around the time of warcraft 3 - so about 6-8 years? in the making.

Its not like WoW harms you like alcohol does, chin up, enjoy the game :D

Also, would you care to explain how you have an image of yourself in your Flickr album uploaded on Feb 10, 2006 of yourself enjoying a beer?

And you are apparently only 19 now how?
By my calculations you should now be around 23 not 19.
Infact there were many images of yourself consuming alcohol even before 2006, but not in bars so I won't ask how you got hold of the alcohol.

I also see you have made a thread on the GPForums (http://www.gpforums.co.nz/thread/376364/?) asking people to "Sign up and post for the lolz".

Demon Hunter - your not really helping the cause here, its all great that you love the game and seem quite happy to pretend there is nothin more in life but to actually boast about your addiction is a bit lame.

I'm addicted to a few things, cigs, rum and planting foot in my car, but I dont boast about it. If an alcoholic is tryin to sort his s**t out I wont help out by saying "hey bud come over to mine and have a few drinkies with me", Id respect that he's trying to move on and do what I can to help, not encourage the opposite.
