brought a game off TM , arrived today and proceeded to play it.

soon after i get the error message" this disc is unreadable"

clean with a cloth and restart console(X360)

did this several times but no go.

emailed the guy whom i purchased it off and he says that it worked fine on his console, never any problems.

my console is fairly new and none of my other games have brought up this issue.

apart from a refund what else can i do to possibly get it to work?

Take it to your local video (Civic/Blockbusters etc) shop and get them to reface/polish it for you, will probably cost you $5.

Gamesman also does disc polishing

If that doesn't work, then demand a refund

You could try making an iso image of it on your PC, if it will read it, then burning a copy.
Works for me sometimes.

Wouldn't his console need a modchip before it can run copied games?

(But trying to read it on the PC could help determine if it's the disc or console at fault)

Sorry, I never thought of that:blush:

Doesn't sound like it is the seller's fault, just bad luck.

Well the seller could be lying and it didn't work for him either and that's why he sold it

Altho, I wouldnt mod it, if I were you. Unless you want to get banned from Xbox live

It's definitely an NZ PAL disc right? Not an import/NTSC game?

Or doesn't than matter with Xbox 360?

Dont think it matters, unless its a different zone dvd

but why would it work on one console and not another??

the seller seemed quite genuinely concerned about it not working and was happy to refund my money.

got an email from the seller to say they got the game back in the post.

they made the comment that the game still works fine in their console and suggest i get the laser checked.

odd i thought.

Possibly that disc and your console are on opposite edges of manufacturing tolerances, making a unique combination that doesn't work.
