had windows 7 installed on my rig for a couple of weeks so decided it was time to load some games on there. I chucked on Oblivion, GRAW 2, Star Wars Empire at War and Rome Total war.

So here i am sitting here all smug ready to jam some games, and what do i get? shitty frame rates. im lucky if i get 30fps on oblivion with medium detail, im sure i should be getting around 50 on full, i get 15fps on very low settings, and the same with star wars, RTW gets 50 so thats fine.

If anyone could shed some lighton my problem i would be soooo happy. Heres my specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium E2180 Conroe
GPU: Asus EN8600gt (not the passively cooled model)
Ram: 2GB G-SKILL DDR2-800
Motherboard: Gigabyte EP35 DS3L
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit (torrented)

8600GT is a POS card for gaming. Get a better card. And yeah, best not tell everyone you pirate on these forums.

It's your CPU. It's not used to dealing with stolen goods, so stutters a bit.

Why would you aid someone who is breaking the law? That's called guilty by association.

No help for you. :angry

I know what's wrong, but your software's pirated, so no help.

Maybe there's some kind of new anti-piracy system in Windows 7 that slows down the PC? :D

Huey: I find it weird that you list your PSU and RAM but not your GPU in your sig.

When playing GRAW 2 the cpu usage is 85-90% and that will get me 20 fps on the lowest settings

well thats disapointing. Ok, so where do i start, Cpu or gpu? and what would be some games that i can actually run at a decent frame rate that are fun? i mean my components arent that bad are they for games 2-3 years old?

id buy a 4870, they are silly cheap and pretty decent. You could always oc the cpu a bit more maybe. I had my old e6600 at 3.6ghz and no games really used it. Was always graphics.

So buy a 4870 and a couple more gigs of ram and youl see a big improvement.

As for what games it depends what you like lol
