Hi, I have a Vista notebook and a Debian server running lenny. I can access the server from the notebook using Putty and OpenSSH on the local network, but when I try to login over the Internet putty reports access denied. I tried using the IP address of the server by going to the website whatismyIP.com but I think that is the connection/router address. How can I test Openssh by dialing out on the internet and connecting back to the debian server?

The desktop is Gnome.

You will need to forward a port from your internet router to your server. What modem/router do you have?

best if you set up a dynamic dns so you dont have to try remember your ip address

You would need to connect to a server somewhere, and connect back to test completely accurately.
