On my laptop keyboad one side of the spacebar doesn't really stick its just a wee bit harder than the other side of the spacebar. So I have to put more pressure to push down one side than the other.

But if I give the key a hard smack it makes it better for about 5-10min.

I have had a look under the key (by lifting the side up gently and it doesnt seem like there is anything under there. So I think it might be the hinge piece that is broken. (I am not sure though so I anyone is able to correct me that would be good!)

Is there a way to fix this without breaking the keyboard?

Try giving it a clean?

Yeah pop it off (gently) and have a look. Sometimes it's fixable, sometimes not. You are unlikely to make it worse. Out of interest, what brand of notebook is it?

That might be of some use.

Laptop is HP dv6 1204ax. I popped it off last night and gave it a quick clean with some rubbing alcohol and gave it a good blow.

It seems to be working now but if it happens again and is worse would it pay to get it fixed under warrranty or CGA?
