Hi grateful if someone could please help With the following,

I have a friend who is visually impaired, she only sees things up close. She uses a package called supernova on XP to make everything big I think it's by a company called Dolphin. Is there an Ubuntu DT equivalent for this software? Or can you get it (supernova) on Ubuntu?

Second, I am running HYLAFAX on SuSe 11.1 DT. But can't detect my Genius int pci faxmodem. Is there a clever way of detecting my faxmodem? Otherwise will it be better for me to buy an external modem? If so would any external fax modem work with SuSe?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Welcome to pressF1,
It would appear that Supernova is a Windows only software,
It may run in Ubuntu under WINE, but maybe not.
Ubuntu does have built in Accessibility features,
There may be other options in the package repositories.
You could try them with the LiveCD option in Ubuntu
and if no good you have lost nothing but time.

As for your modem, most Linux OS have good support
for the traditional serial port modem, but little support for Winmodems.
Puppy Linux, however has drivers for some Winmodems
but check this site
it will help you to identify the chipset in your Genius Winmodem.

Personally I would use a serial modem.
Good Luck.

Hi andreas.hagen,

Welcome to PressF1!

I'm with KarameaDave, there's little you can't do with the native tools. Try the LiveCD, there's a few options such as magnification, increasing theme / font sizes etc.
