Does the tv have a VGA input or is it an old CRT tv?

If your TV has RCA video in sockets you could use a S Video to RCA adapter. Might work. http://search.dse.co.nz/search?w=s+video+to+rca&sessionid=4ae20bf000dc3cf82740c0a87f3b06de&asug=s+video You could also ask the people at DSE, they should be able to help you.

Agreed. That's how I've connected my laptop to various CRT tvs. Simple. However you need to then select AV on the tv.

Yep, then you may need to hit a hot key(eg Fn+F5) on your laptop to output to an external screen.

An alternative could also be a VGA Signal Converter box, but the above would be cheaper and easier to set up.

Thank you all so much for your replies, I think I will give the s-video to vga a shot first and if that doesnt work .... will try a converter box. (take the cheapest first) :) Have a great weekend :)
