I had Vista and W7 installed & as Vista was in the 'home' partition it had the loader. Unfortunately I forgot to make a copy of the loader before formatting the first partition to restore it to XP.

Short of reinstalling the W7, where can I get a copy of the 'loader' file from?

Ultimate boot CD should enable you to rebuild it

You don't need to reinstall, just boot from the Win7 CD and follow the Repair options. It'll set it straight again :)

yep, just boot from your Windows 7 media, click through the language option screen then run the Repair option as Chilling says

Yes, startup repair should do it:)

You can then add in the XP entry manually with EasyBCD if startup repair doesn't do it for you, or doesn't do it right(which I've had in a few cases)

The windows 7 was a downloaded iso file, does not include a repair section. I will give it a miss as xp does verything I need it to.

Does not matter-it still will.

When you get to the stage where it says "Install now" select "Repair My Computer on the bottom"
