Hey all.

You probably all know of the sites (e.g. converttube.com and vixy.net) which let you convert and then download a youtube video, but the process is by no means lossless and the download is often awful in quality.

But the optimum way is much easier, and gets you the highest quality version (in mp4 format) straight off the youtube server.

Simply assign the below code to a new favourite (either in you favourites or on you link bar - the easiest way to do this is to create a random favourrite linking to some website and then set it's location/URL property to the code below.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not my code and in no way do I claim it is, it's just been around the net for a while and I can't remember where I got it.

javascript:if(document.location.href.match(/http:\/\/[a-zA-Z\.]*youtube\.com\/watch/)){document.location.href='http://www.youtube.com/get_video?fmt='+(isHDAvailable?'22':'18')+'&video_id='+swfArgs['video_id']+'&t='+swfArgs['t']}

Enjoy!
