Currently I have 2x2GB ram (g.skill ripjaws) and I was wondering what kind of performance increase I'd see with another kit. This is primarily a gaming machine, but I can run Crysis maxed no problems and overall I'm very happy with the current performance, would spending $160 on more ram be justified?

Thanks

If its just gaming then I wouldnt bother at this point, but i can use 3gig of ram just with photoshop running so getting more also wouldnt hurt!

4GB is plenty enough man....maybe a DDR3 2000 6GB kit if you have the money.

Toms Hardware had an article on large amounts of RAM - go have a look.
They basically said (as yet) its not much use.

Having built 2 gaming PCs very similar as far as CPU went, 1 with 2GB and 1 with 4GB - I benchmarked them and the better GPU PC won by miles. RAM didn't help much at all.

However I like excessive amounts of RAM, its not terribly expensive so why not.

Useful really only if you run quite a few VMs at the same time..
