Where to get them, or even if theres a certain brand? I have 2 gigabyte ones which are pretty good (actually clip in) and the rest are rubbish.

Today I thought I was dealing with a dead hard drive but turns out its just a loose SATA cable made of cheap chineese ****

Any recommendations?

Decent?
Rubbish?

I find all sata a bit iffy, they tend to be more fragile than IDE.

But I get whatever ones one of my supppliers uses and they seem fine, they have right angle and standard, seem like all the rest that are bundles with boards etc.

No Idea. Usually the ones that come with the motherboards I get are decent(Asus, GB)

Try TradeMe possibly...?

I like the red ones. The orange ones seem too dull.

Would be interested to know if there is any (either cheap or expensive) which is not Chinese made. Even Taiwan made is Chinese made! :D

Just had a look at the ones Dick Smiths have on their site :horrified  Theirs (http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/4aa62c0c0235c0b02742c0a87f3b06c2/Product/View/XH6800) -- Holy CRAP -- Talk about mark up. More like highway robbery.

If you wanted whole sale Dove, or Anyware computers have them - but you need an account.

Just got some myself a few weeks back. Got some of These ones (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Cables.jpg) as well as the straight, same as DSE - BUT not at their price - lets say for their price a person with an account would be shocked at the DSE price.

The orange ones with the metal clip are good - they really hang on, but so far unable to locate who sells them.

Yes I know what you mean about Sata cables, the red ones are getting thinner and thinner.
I year ago I bought some nice thick white ones and ones with right angled plugs. But I have forgotten where from - it was a NZ supplier.
Everything is getting thinner and lighter (and cheaper) these days.

Woohoo! I have about $650 worth of SATA cables in the drawer here in the workshop
Didn't realise they were worth that much.

Dick Smith have always done that - sell major items at a low markup and sell printer cables etc for a massive markup. They were doing that in the 1980's when I was selling computers.
