Recently I can't use the ALT key. Tried restarting and reinstall keyboard driver, didn't work. After a few hours later, the ALT key is functioning again for a short while.

Any help?

Probably a laptop.

Do both the alt keys have the same problem?

Both of my alt keys are not working.

Tried an external keyboard and it is functioning well.

Could this be a virus?

I had a similar problem recently, with was caused by an incorect language setting. But if another keyboard cleared the problem it's unlikely to be that.

Stuck keys like I said probably not much you can do, with the laptop switched off give it gentle and I said gentle shake probably won't fix it but worth a try

Also, I uninstalled Ubuntu ages ago. Before that, I found no keyboard problems.
