Guess the Mumbai call centre must have been busy.

And the Manila one. They should be thankful it was in the same hemisphere! :groan:

you imagen the fun if there was another auckland CBD power outage. tons of calls to a call centre that can't find the city on the map !

I do recall a couple of years back, I got stuck in a lift. Yes, the operator was based in USA, but she knew what to do. She didn't sing us a song though, while we waited....

As long as the call center was not Telecom, they always let you down with a bump. :(

Similar story from one of my dads friends. He's claustrophobic and got stuck in a lift in Wellington, call went through to Jakarta.

What amazes me was that the people outside the lift managed to pry the outer doors open. The interlock should stop that, unless the car is exactly opposite them.

Yeah, I've tried my hand at elevator surfing...

There's also a fantastic invention called the cellphone, which you can use to make phone calls to the shop whose lift you're stuck in, or if you're really panicking, 111.

Can you get cell phone signal in an elevator car?
I was stuck in a lift in Surabaya on a piss/business trip once with a mate who then proceeded to light a smoke and choke us and I desperately needed a piss.
The locals I think hand cranked it up very slowly and kept stopping, got annoyed knocked out a top panel and crawled away through a gap, was real drunk at the time.
Waited for yonks for my mate who wasn't concerned I had done a runner from the elevator. We still laugh about it now when we are on the piss.

Unfortunately, usually the office/shop staff aren't trained in how to open a lift.
