I have a Vista Home Pre HP laptop and Im wanting to partition my hdd so I can install another os on it,
but when i go to disk management, right click on my C volume, and select shrink volume i can only shrink it 11376MB. Im wanting to allocate half my hdd to my other os but i only can do 11GB

Welcome to PF1 Sting Ray

How big is your existing hard drive and how full is it?

If you use Easeus Parition Manager (http://www.partition-tool.com/download.htm) you don't need to worry about that, it will take care of everything.

The reason it cannot go any further is because there are important system files that are unmovable there.

I suggest you backup your data before you do anything.

And keep your Vista CD handy, you may have to perform a startup repair if you are unlucky!
