Reinstalled XP Pro and installed all downloaded device drivers, everything went smoothly; but when I checked the device manager, there's a big yellow '?' says 'High Definition Audio'. Why? Have installed the Audio drivers and the sound is working fine. What's the story about? I'm puzzled.

Delete it then reboot, see if that fixes it

When you installed it, the Windows wizard would have popped up right? Did you then switch to running that? Cause you should have just ignored it.

Don't remember what I did.

What shall I do now? Have tried to uninstall the audio driver and re-installed it but the same thing appears. Or, just ignore it?

Out of Interest - Where did you get the drivers from - they are meant to have the AC97 (Intel High Definition Audio) - But looking on the Asus Site, both USA and UK - cant actually see the model.

Did you install the UAA bus driver and Audio driver first as it says to do ?

Yes & no. When I was installing it, pop up message says that my system's UAA bus driver is newer. For your info, I was using Win XP Pro SP3 slipstreamed CD to install Windows. The COA sticker was kind enough to allow me to do so, and have no problem in activating it.

bk T, I have the same model laptop; if someone can give us some guidance, maybe I can look through the settings on my one to let you know where to go/what to get?
