Anybody able to point me to where I can legally download Office 2007 Ultimate.

I already have a product key form MS NZ and the ultimate steal deal they were doing. I tried downloading from there but it failed ever time and I've now exceeded the max number of download attempts.

Cheers

So if you have a product key where did that come from? Got the original packaging? Was it a trial version?

Got the product key form here (http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-nz/default.aspx).

Tried talking to Microsoft on Friday didn't get anywhere was on hold for ages and then got dropped when they transferred me. I'm rather busy atm so don't often have the time to sit on the phone to places like that for ages, but will find the time if it the only option.

Check with your local IT Guy at your Tertiary department. I'm sure they ought to have an image set up on their server.

If you get really stuck and cant get a copy of Ultimate - you can always download the free trial of professional (http://trial.trymicrosoftoffice.com/trialnewzealand/default.aspx?re_ms=oo&culture=en-NZ) - I just tried it, and my Ultimate Key works perfectly on the Professional version - main difference is you wont have office Groove & Info path.

I downloaded the Trial Pro - and used my Ultimate key, just to try it - and it worked - but use yours at your own risk -- Eg: may not accept it. its a 600 odd MB download. ( two files, one is Outlook contact Manager)

PS: There is no Ultimate trial AFAIK - other wise you could have used that.

Hey Wainui thanks for that. Had looked for an ultimate trial.

Do you know if you download the infopath trial seperately, if it will require a different key or just integrate itself?

Also is anyone else seeing this (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/trialerror.jpg) when they click on the link to download one of the trials?

Bob our IT support guys won't give us anything like that and its not availible for us ComSci students as far as I know.

Well lookie what I found (http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/default.aspx?view=22&pcid=9d273393-92c9-4807-be9c-515a0d152415) on the MS New Zealand site - a few other trials - Enterprise has the same apps as Ultimate - I had a trial of Enterprise a while back - my ultimate key worked just now, I put it in and it came up with a green tick.

Once again though - yours may or may not work, do it at your own risk.?????

I know people who have brought the Office products, lost the CD and downloaded trials and the genuine / Legal key works with the software.

The trial my be a "tie over" if you have to contact MS.

I have contacted them in NZ and get through quickly - ( dont ring monday morning  ) they are usually busy.

Regarding that Error - try using IE - MS downloads, and I think those come Via Technet that does'nt like other browsers - IE usually works.

You also have to have a free windows Live/MSN/ Hotmail ID.

My dad who works at the uni went for that deal, and luckily the download worked the first time, and it is not bad software, but I wouldn't pay more than $80 for it. Office XP was good enough for him, but he needed to upgrade as Outlook XP doesn't work well in Vista.
I tried emailing the people behind the Ultimate steal several few weeks ago with a prepurchase question, who I believe are Digital river, and surprise surprise, I never got any reply, and there is no other way to contact them. It is certainly a concern when there is no way to contact these companies. I would recommend sending Microsoft NZ a simple snail mail letter, and then follow it up by phone a week later if you don't get anywhere.

Fortunately I have a legal copy of Office 2007 Ultimate anyway which I bought and paid for before the latest offer which occurred after I became a Student.

This means that I could take advantage of the offer but why would I?

I guess the only advantage is that I have a legal copy and I did not have to download the same. I can also reinstall same when or if I want to.

That looks to be a better deal, if you don't want to download and burn your own CD. But is Enterprise include everything that Ultimate contains?

One thing that urked me about Office Ultimate, is that the version didn't contain all the service packs, so you then had to download all the service packs too after you had installed it. I guess that is microsoft software for you.

None what so ever.

I don't need or want to download Office. I have a license to use the software I paid rather more for a licence than where I could get it for less now that I am a student at Waiariki. I did not need to have an Internet connection to get the software at the time I paid for a licence.

The offer does not give me an advantange at all. I do have a valid Student ID now but I did not when I paid for the license.

Another advantage for me is that I obtained the software earlier and therefore may be ahead of the classmates.

I hope I have explained this to your satisfaction.

Not really. You were trying to needlessly point something out by saying something that didn't really apply to the point. Much like I do most of the time too.

You asked a question and I answered same to the best of my ability.
What was the point of the question you asked?

Just to remind you:-

Sounds like saying you have a copy and why should you have to put up with downloading something.. oh the superiority.

More like I already made the MISTAKE of paying for a full version when I could have waited if I had foreknowledge that the price would come down for a student.

And of course if Microsoft had advertised in advance that you could get Office 2007 for far less than I paid then I may have waited.

At the moment we have no definitive answers as to the price of Win 7 in New Zealand.

I have a copy of Office 2007 but if I had waited I could have got a copy for less than I have already paid.

Now do you see where I'm coming from? And may I ask what is superior about making a mistake? And why would I download another copy of the same software at any price?

Enterprise has Office Communicator (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/communicator/FX101729051033.aspx) - Ultimate doesn't.

And naturally all the Uni students are gonna be *pissed* their Ultimate edition doesnt have Communicator ;-)

... or not!

But anyways I thought I'd try downloading the Office 2007 Professional trial (I've already got it, but still), and even though it says the download is only for US peoples, I still get this:
Attached file: Office_Professional_trial_download.PNG (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Office_Professional_trial_download.PNG) (198 KB)

Sadly thats my WiFi speed at home slowing it down now .. :p

Nathan, great to see you lurking around the forums here, helping out like that. Excellent stuff mate! :)
