I'm using the Pinnacle Nano Stick with an ATI Radeon 4830 card on XP.

Just out of curiosity, for those using USB Freeview Tuners and DVBViewer, what is your average CPU usage? Lets say with TV3 which has the highest usage.

Can you also indicate what codec you are using for h.264 decoding.

I'm using the CoreAVC codec and getting 60-70% CPU Usage.

I'd use the Cyberlink codec included with the latest KLite Codec Pack, but the Radeon drivers BSOD with it.

Hmm I'm using a USB tuner, but I'm using the program that came with it (AverTV), not another program. And I think the program installs something.

Since it records in MP4

The software included with the Pinnacle tuner is absolutely horrendous.

I can't give specific figures now, but I use EyeTV (CoreAVC) on a 2.33 GHz C2D and the CPU usage is very high. It takes a lot of grunt to decode 1080i.

I use a $30 USB DVB-T tuner with DVBViewer. CPU usage is no more than 5-10% - because my video card supports hardware decoding (nVidia GeForce 8500GT).

On my old PC, the video decoding would chew up close to 100% of the CPU.

I'm similar to this guy, with a decent video card and proper video codec (Windows 7 or power DVD 8) using hard ware acceleration, your CPU usage should be below 40%.

I thought so. Looks like I need to get an Nvidia card. ATI DXVA is absolutely flaky.

So who wants to buy a second hand Radeon 4830?;)

In use since June.
