So the last couple of weeks Telecom have been upgrading the exchange just around the corner from where I live.

Today, the new hardware went live..

And these are some of the speeds I am getting. I am 300 metres from the exchange:

This is the slowest

Before the upgrade, I had no better than 3.0Mb/s. My noise margin used to be a very poor 52dB now its just 10.9dB

About time. :banana

Local Speed tests dont actually mean a lot - if you are getting data from someplace else, there is always a point somewhere in the chain that there is a hold up.

If I try any speed test its always slower - yet when Telstra have had to come and replace their modem,( very Rarely) they do a speed test to their own "home log in" its always at least double the speed ( often More) - which is a direct tunnel, no other places to go through.

Example: If I do a speed test Via that site I get around 3Mb/Sec - the actual plan I have is Up to 10 Mbps / 2 Mbps - (Downstream/Upstream) directly it reaches the 9 -10 / 2.

Can those speeds be real? What sort of plan are you on, as that is faster than the theoretical maximum for ADSL2+? Isn't it?

I've seen 60 and 70mbps from within the Uni, that's where the test is hosted I think. You just around the corner or something? What's the actual line speed showing as in your ADSL Router?

From Telecoms Web Site:
In theory, ADSL2+ offers maximum download speeds of up to 24Mbps and maximum upload speeds of up to 1.0Mbps.

What happens in reality though is completely different.
