It's what it says it is - a USB wireless dongle.

It allows a PC with this device plugged into it to connect to an in-range wireless network.

Did you check in the device manager to see if it appears when it's plugged in?

It doesn't register in my computer at all!

Shows up as an unknown device without drivers installed, which of course couldn't be reinstalled from my computer.

There SHOULD be a fcc ID on it (well there is on the ones Ive got here).

Look for it in google. Plug it in, go to device manager look for the entry. Double click on it, click on details tab. Change it to hardware ids. Copy and paste one of these into google or what it says in here.

Quite right Speedy.....

FCC id:NHPWLG1500

When googled I am always referred to this site...

http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=16288

From which I can get no sense.

I download that direct into my downloads, open the folder and it opens to another folder with nothing in it.

Thanks lads.
I have decided to give her the thing back,to put in bottom of a drawer where it was found.
And may it rest in piece.

Hmm, looks like the site is up (www.cameo.com.tw) but there are no drivers on it. I would send them an email (http://www.cameo.com.tw/contact.action) (if the technical support email works). See where the drivers are. Yours is probably similar to this (http://www.cameo.com.tw/product.action?cat1=127000000001115848031692700004&prod=172021097200116608202698400064)

Must be something wrong, re-download it. I have downloaded it twice and it's worked both times.

You will find inside the zip file a folder called "WLG-1500 SW1.10b04(365A)" and inside that one called "Drivers" and another called "Utility"

If there's nothing in the zip file it was probably corrupted when you downloaded it. It should be 5.57MB

I find that, but if you right click on those folders, properties there is nothing in them,I have downloaded 3 times and always the same.

Thanks Speedy,I have had a guts full now so will hand unit back.

Did you extract the files first? Everything worked for me, I got a Setup.exe in the Utility folder and various folders for different versions of windows with driver files in them in the Drivers folders

What are you opening the file with?

I download to windows downloads, then open via right click and the rest I have told you.No mention of opening zip etc?

I did unzip, but it gives options of Xp and older but no Vista?

Ah so you're using Vista. It might be the problem.

You could try using the XP driver as Vista is quite similar, though and it might work anyway.

Or double click on the adapter in device manager and driver / update driver.

See if Vista will install one. Sometimes it does, somethimes it doesnt

As soon as you plug something in, XP/Vista will automatically try to find drivers for it.

Cicero-Try going update driver>browse>select the drivers from Agent_24s link.
