Laptop drops broadband connection
Tried the laptop on another broadband system: passed (55min, 33min)
Tried the customers modem with a different broadband account: passed
Reset the customers new adsl modem with customers username and new password: partially worked, stayed connected but stalled on Windows updates
Changed to the other broadband system, windows updated smoothly & successfully
Variety of malware scans: clean

Only difference is the ISP
customers ISP: Telecom
other ISP: TelstraClear

any suggestions?

I thought of this as well.

But, this doesn't explain why the other connection works fine.
Meaning that the laptop is not at the owners place.

Have you tried your customers details on a different ( Known working) Modem, but using their Username/Password for Telecom ?

This will test if its the modem not liking Telecom (wouldn't blame it) :p or the telecom account someplace.

No I haven't as I figured it was a new modem.
But to eliminate possibilities, I will and report back
