Hi, Vista Home Premium
I have an e'mail which has a MPG 1.6mb attachment.
When I attempt to open it I get the message
This file does not have a program associated with it.
Create an association in the Set Associations control box.
Firstly I can't find the Set Ass. in the control box, and secondly can't find a suitable free program to associate it with, a little help would be appreciated

Save it open windows media player then load it. See if it plays. If it doesnt it may need a codec

Or download Windows Media Player Classic (http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/)I'm sure that plays MPG or VLC Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) will as well.

Thanks for that. I saved it in documents then could play it with
Media Player
Media Player Classic
Gom player
Quick time
So all I have to do now is find Set Association in control panel so it open without saving ??

You'll find it in explorer under tools>>folder options>>file types.

Thats only in XP;)

Open Control Panel > Control Panel Home > Default Programs > Set Associations. Select a file type in the list and click Change Program
