Going to Auckland 29th Oct, coming back 3rd Nov.

Gives us 2 days of immense boredom while everyone is at work.

Any budget suggestions on what to do? That preferably doesn't involve loads of money or travelling all over the place?

Having lived there I can't think of any that doesn't involve either one.....

Find some traffic to sit in and be thankful you live in the South Island? :)

I can't really think of anything to do in Auckland that doesn't involve spending copious amounts of dosh. :(

Take the ferry to Devonport and walk around and into the WW2 bunkers at North Head. Also the Navy Museum (http://www.navymuseum.mil.nz/), and your choice of cafe. Or does this constitute "travelling all over the place"?

Organise a PF1 Auckland get-together so we can say hello in person...

Devonport.........er...........Navy Museum doesn't interest me. Been to the bunkers.
It kind of does mean travelling cause my son lives in Henderson.

Although anywhere means travelling in Auckland really. Buses are a pathetic waste of time - don't suppose that's changed any.

Maybe we can scrounge someones car.

A PF1 get together. Hmm, now theres an idea.
Gxzs&^%%## with the unspellable username lives in West Auckland, I know that..........

+1 for the PF1 get together :)

Either that, or Tech Pac are in AK, you could go try and tour their warehouses, stacks and stacks of PC gear at wholesale pricing :D

Henderson... ain't too far from the Waitaks. A walk in the bush or a visit to the Waitakere museum/visitor centre.

A walk up Rangitoto, as long as you don't mind the ferry fare. Great views.

A PF1 lunch thing sounds good - pctek can stand in for Laura as the Southern Delegate. (A bit less Laura, but a fair bit more Southern.)

Tech Pac , you could go try and tour their warehouses

I have an account with Ingram (same company). I try not to buy from them because their prices suck, and customers service is rather sad.

I've been to most of them anyway, only one I never met was Richard from Synnex.

Ah well, go to PBTech then, the service there is great, even the security guards will do their bit to help you if you look lost, proactively too!

Crystal Mountain is always worth a coffee at, I know a lot of people who work / have worked there in fact :)

Worst idea ever. I bike to and from school each day. :p

Apparently, you're a mate of prefect's....

This happens regularly enough without idiots encouraging it.

Try it from the cyclist's point of view and see how YOU like it.

I have, and I didn't.

Back when I was young, I used to semi-regularly walk from my folks place in New Lynn to my mates place in Bethells. I wonder what the scenery is like these days?

That's why I said when I was young.

Took me a dozen beers and at least two tapes for the walkman... lol. I used to phone him about the end of Henderson to let him know I was on the way.

They just don't make backpacks that are beer holding friendly these days...
