Looking at the types of program that clean up ones computer(ccleaner,RegCure,Uniblue etc),the tool is provided but adjusting is left to the individual. My question: What should one be adjusting, fine tuning etc? Is there some site that explains the ins & outs of CPU adjustment.I'm not looking to supe up my computer just get it to function to the best of its capability.

Ask here! :p

UniBlue and RegCure are both horrible and can potentially cause you major headaches, and UniBlue also slows things down a bit if it's running in the background. Dump them both, and get CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/).

NOD32 (http://www.eset.co.nz/) is the best anti virus solution - or Avast Home (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html) if you want a free one.

Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php)and Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html) are good for anti spyware.

You can also grab HijackThis (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis) and post a log for us to look through, we can tell what can go and that should speed things up a bit too.

Can you please clarify what you mean by CPU adjustment? Are you looking to overclock?

"Cleaning" the computer can only bring back a little bit more speed.

Don't bother with "Optimization" tools on the web. Most are scams.

Just stick with the ones recommended above.
