View Full Version : Firefox 3.5

I have recently moved over to Firefox 3.5
Its supposed to be quicker and slicker. Wow! Bring it on I thought, from my previous Firefox, which was ok, this new 3.5 was supposed to be fantastic! I don't know about anyone else but I feel this is slower that Google Chrome! Sin oh Sin!
My main bite is Firefox 3.5 is very reluctant to use google.co.nz as my home page. The previous firefox version was great with google.co.nz as my home page??? If I go to one of my favourites, it works just fine, but still very reluctant to put up google.

Perhaps I am the first to have a concern about Firefox 3.5

Anyone else. Any solutions?

Cheers

Google NZ works fine here with 3.5. Did you put it in under tools / options / main / home page? So WHAT does it do if it doesnt go there?

Hi Speedie
Yes, I did put in in under tools/options/main/home page. I have also types it into the main task bar, and waited...and waited.. and waited! ans it "loaded".

Sorry for the odd typo

Must be something on your system stuffing things up, if it takes ages to load.

It takes like 1-2 secs here for it to come up. Is that what youre saying? It takes a long time? Could be an addon if you've installed any

Hi Speedy
Yes, it takes a long time to load the home page, as google.co.nz or google.com. If I use something else, one of my bookmark addresses for instance, no problems at all. The new "home page" arrives in 1-2 secs. Very weird.

Yes, I do have some add-ons, perhaps I should delete these gradually one by one to see if an add-on is at fault. I will have a go and get back to you.

Cheers

Back again Speedy
I have removed all add-ons with no improvement.
I can use another address other than google.co.nz or google.com with no trouble at all, but try google, and I will be waiting a very long time (if ever!)

Have you scanned your system for malware?? Does it do the same thing in internet explorer or another browser??

Is your firewall set to allow this new version of Firefox?

Devie Boy

Have tried IE and Google Chrome with home page as google.co.nz with no problems what-so-ever. Just Firefox 3.5 seems to haave this hiccup

Hi Zqwerty
I have not set this version to be "ällowed" or not

Devie Boy, I had problems when I used the updater from my previous version of Firefox. When I uninstalled and reinstalled by downloading directly from Mozilla, problems were solved.

Hi Smurf
Might sound a silly question, if you uninstall, do you loose your bookmarks, or does the reinstalled 3.5 pick them up as it sets itself up?

Cheers

Speedy Gonzales

You can uninstall just remember to tick the keep whatever option, then download/reinstall 3.5. Or export the bookmarks first

Devie Boy

Hi, I am back again. No better. The same old response to Google, but fine to other addresses. My bookmarks will have to be re exported but no big deal.

Any other ideas gang?

Speedy Gonzales

Nope export the bookmarks if you didnt then uninstall it again. Then delete the firefox folders. Delete whats in documents and settings too.

Then reinstall 3.5. If that doesnt work post a hijackthis log. We'll see whats in it

As Speedy said, export the bookmarks before uninstalling and reinstalling. I also ran Ccleaner after uninstalling and before reinstalling.

I've a similar issue, upgrading to 3.5 where it wouldn't connect to either youtube or photobucket, it would just hang at the loading page.
Reverted back to 3.0.1 and everything is back to normal.
