.......or any one with a good referral to a diesel machine shop in NZ.

I have a friend/poster on another site who is in Hawkes Bay, NZ and has a ruined rear cylinder in a turbo'd diesel engine. Trying to keep him from messing it up, but I am not there to do it for him.

Any referrals?

I know of a few good diesel mechanics down in Motueka and Nelson, but none up there sorry.

I should look at Google Earth and find out where he is in relation to the rest of the island.

Hmmmmmm. Napier, Hastings. Looks nice.

How hard/long to walk to Wanganui from there?

Are there any fish in that water to the East of it?

Where I worked in Hawkes Bay, we used to send our trucks to Deakin Motors just outside Hastings for servicing.

Edit: Due to my limited mechanical knowledge I can't say whether they did a good job or not, but the fact that my employer seemed happy to use them for years indicates that they are probably ok.

Sorry - you're right. My head isn't particularly clear as I haven't had anything solid to eat since 6pm Monday night.

Sounds rough. You well, healthwise?

Yes - well, I will be in a few days. Just recovering from surgery at the moment, so painkillers + minimal food is not a good combination.

The date confusion doesn't surprise me at all - after all, your blood is all stuck in your head and doesn't circulate from standing upside-down in (obviously) Upsidedown Land.

Where North is hot and South is cold.

Youse guys are all messed up! lol

He went to Deakin and is duly impressed and now you are duly informed.

Thanks for the long-distance info.

Great to hear. What did they say when you told them you were calling from halfway around the world?

One of my best mates is an experienced diesel mechanic. Unfortunately he now lives in Australia, poor bugger.
