I used to but find very few people are playing CoD4 multi these days. The 28th MB server is a good local one - not sure of the IP.

Some of the Australian servers give pretty good pings - Gaming SA is a good one.

The thing which used to annoy me about the Gaming SA servers was the wait-to-respawn setting. It's a real ball-ache.

Just tried it, Its heavily influenced by Counter Strike, Runs perfect on my laptop, and definitely worth a crack.

Just joined a server called TRAINEES ONLY, and there was someone handing out abuse as the team was a bunch of noobs.***.

Depending on where you are (Your profile says Rotorua), chances are Orcon are simply wholesaling off of Telecom, unless you're on an unbundled exchange. If that's the case, you (and it most probably is) you can thank Telecom for your crappy pings.

That said, I regularly host DotA games, one of the first things I do pre-game is check pings, and I've played vs / with many people from Rotorua with decent pings. I know this because the general rule is not to play vs people if their ping is > 90ms. Even most of Australia seems to get > 90 ms pings to me so I don't feel it's too exclusive ;)

Your ADSL Router can have a bearing on it also.

yeah... my pings are 50-90 at a good time, but usually 100-200

We LAN it in the office. Use to play online but my re-actions aint as fast as they once were. Plus I get sick of the morons. I like to think their teenagers cause I'm a crusty old grumpy bastard , but they probably aren't ...
