Got the following system:

MB: Asus P4S533-X
CPU: Intel P4 2800 MHz

When I check with CPU-Z, shows the following results:

CPU Specification: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.8GHz
Family : F
Model: 2
Stepping : 9
Ext Family: F
Ext Model: 2
Revision: D1

Clocks (Core #0)
Core Speed: 1400.2MHz
Multiplier: x14.0
Bus Speed 100.0 MHz
Rated FSB 400.1 MHz

Cache
L1 Data: 8 KBytes
L1 Trace: 12 Kuops
Level 2: 512 KBytes

I'm a little puzzled:
From the above data, does it mean that it is running at half the speed? Have checked the BIOS settings which is similar to the above; have reset to default values with the same figures.

Is there a way to make the CPU to run at 2.8GHz?

Hmmm I thought the bus speed should be at 200MHz. From what I know Intel's SpeedStep decreases the multiplier, not the FSB?

Either way, go into the BIOS and change the bus speed from 100 to 200MHz, and that will give you 2800MHz.

If it supports speedstep, thats normal. It goes down to 1/2 speed when its idle / doing nothing useful / intensive. It'll run at full speed when youre doing something with it. Mine does the same thing. It's running at 1200 now, but runs at 2.5 when I'm using a program or doing something intensive. Do something like burn a dvd/cd, or something like video editing, it'll go up to full speed

Should auto underclock when not strained, because of the Intel SpeedStep feature.
