There are a few software incompatibilities, the main one being NOD32 v.4 sometimes doesn't play nice. This should be fixed very soon, if it isn't already.

The main thing to remember is it's not cumlulative. I think it's the first MS SP ever not to be?

The two (most useful?) changes are it allows windows to natively write to Blu-Ray media, and there is no limit on half open tcp/ip connections. Great for torrenters.

Thanks all - have had SP1 installed since the day it came out, as I suspect most Vista user have had, since Vista was such a complete pig without it!! :badpc:

Vista SP2 runs great, very stable. No problems thus far.

I downloaded the Ultimate SP1 and SP2 slipstream from MSDN and installed from scratch. I always think that's the best way when using Windows OSs.

Only had one PC turn its nose up at SP2 - mind you it was in a sad state before hand any way.

Ended up reinstalling using the DVD from technet with SP2 integrated - works like a charm now.

I dont understand this 15-20GB of space back?........The O/S isnt that big in the 1st place As I mentioned a while back - I had this PC reclaim around 30GB of drive space - while the OS is not that large - true - you cant disbelief the numbers, esp when lots of people are gettting the same results. Have a read of THIS ARTICLE (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/12336/vista_sp2_freeing_up_massive_disk_space/index.html) - see the amount of space others are reporting - you may be shocked.

Every other PC I have installed SP2 on has reclaimed approx 18 -20 GB.

On My own PC it was Vista NFR that MS gave me - It then had SP1 installed and later SP2 - what SP2 does is removes ALL previous updates as far back as it can go, it also does a damn good job of cleaning out excessive junk.

When Vista Sp2 Recovers the disk space, I dont know if the version of Vista has anything to do with it or Not.

My own here is Ultimate - all others I have done have been Home Premium.

I'm tempted by all this free space (I only have 5.3Gb free on my C drive, and 7.8 on D, this is on a 160Gb HD), so I'm downloading it now. Will report back with results.

Try running the Cleanup tool manually heres how (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/26/service-pack-cleanup-tool-in-vista-sp2-to-clean-up-old-rtm-sp1-backup-files/) - just rerun it after installing Sp2 a while back and removed a further 1GB.

So how much of an improvement is SP2 to Vista, seeing as Vista has been dogged from the start are we now seeing Vista more like 7?

PS - sorry that this is a dumb question, but I'm still too unfamiliar with the system. I note that the SP2 requires SP1 to be installed first... how do I check if I have SP1, please?

I downloaded Vista SP2 on Friday night. After download, installation (including one reboot) took exactly 16 minutes.
Boot up time has reduced quite a bit, and opening programs from desktop icons has also improved.
Running Vista Home Premium.
