I recently installed a software package for an old CD writer. XP told me that it was incompatible and advised not to continue. Like a dope I continued because I thought that it would be OK. When I restarted the message came up saying that the driver would not be loaded. I have tried everything to get rid of this constant message but to no avail. Ashampoo uninstaller, XP uninstaller, CCCleaner, System Mechanic. The driver is in the drivers folder in Windows system files, if I delete it none of my DVD/CD drives show up. Any ideas to get rid of the pop up message. Thanks. Kati kid.

Maybe try Revo Uninstaller and a malware/spyware remover like spybot...

Could you please Ctrl+C at the error window when it pops up and paste it here.

Thanks

Thanks guys, the popup does not work with control c but what it says is this "CD recording Software will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented drivers from loading.
It then gives Roxio web site to update the driver. Roxio says the software is obsolete and cannot upgrade.

Hmm ok doesnt look like its in that log, but I would tick these entries, then tick fix checked

Close browsers

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SSBkgdUpdate] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Scansoft Shared\SSBkgdUpdate\SSBkgdupdate.exe" -Embedding -boot

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PaperPort PTD] "C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\PaperPort\pptd40nt.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ControlCenter3] C:\Program Files\Brother\ControlCenter3\brctrcen.exe /autorun

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BrMfcWnd] C:\Program Files\Brother\Brmfcmon\BrMfcWnd.exe /AUTORUN

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LGODDFU] "C:\Program Files\lg_fwupdate\fwupdate.exe" blrun

I would uninstall ForceWare Network Access Manager which is Nvidia firewall. It can cause a lot of probs, inc corrupted downloads. You usually install it with motherboard drivers
