Hey Guys,

Can anyone recommend a free anti-virus application I can run on my personal server running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise (Free from MSDN-AA)?

I know Avast is great but the free version doesn't run on Windows Server.

I don't have another licence for NOD32 either.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Edit: Also any suggestions for a firewall.

You could try AVG but i found that at times it doesnt update automatically, so you might have to click on update every now and than. Avast is way better than AVG but as you mentioned it doesnt run on server 03.

There is big money to be made in selling Server/exchange AV software.
I doubt any company will offer a free product for it, especially since free AV
is classed as 'for home use' which would exclude severs 99.99% of the time.
You will find that some of the free AV will actually refuse to install on Server OS's.

Clamwin may work but...
"Please note that ClamWin Free Antivirus does not include an on-access real-time scanner. You need to manually scan a file in order to detect a virus or spyware."
I dont think Clamwin will support Exchange scanning .

But let us know if you find anything that works.

Agreed I can understand why most companies would stop you installing their free suites on servers.

I've decided just to purchase an additional licence of NOD32, at least this supports real time scanning and schelduling.
