I've posted here before with having int PCI modem problems. I'm now looking towards getting a ext USB modem. Does anyone have any info about the pros & cons of installing a modem such as the above. Any feedback will be appreciated.

At home I run a Dynalink external USB modem.
This model has the Conexant chipset so therefore requires using CPU cycles for its operation.
The purists decry these WinModems, but it suits our purposes and is readily swapped to a laptop when required out of town.
It is a 56k modem and usually connects at 49.2 or 48k - through an old telecom exchange that is not JetStream compliant.
If you are wanting to do a lot of downloading in the background while using CPU intensive applications, go for an external model with a stand alone chipset - I can't quote USB models of this type tho'.
