Reading the latest PC world mag the graphics card section and looking at the cards on review they didn't look like they had a standard attachment for the monitor, did my eyes deceive me or do they have a different connection?

So could you attach a normal monitor to them?

Not unless its got VGA on it. Unless you get an adapter from somewhere. Altho cards do have DVI, VGA, and HDMI on them

You can get adapters. My card (pretty old now though) came with a DVI port and a VGA one, and had an adapter for the DVI port.

most of the new monitors that you buy nowadays come with both the normal VGA cable and also a DVI cable. but if you do not have the DVI cable than you will need a DVI to VGA adaptor.

First they had VGA connectors. Then VGA + DVI, then 2 DVI, now most have DVI + HDMI

+1

Higher end cards generally have DVI+DVI with an HDMI adapter.

Cheaper cards are usually VGA+DVI with S-Video
