Default Problem with Add-on

Hi folks.

Regularly , two or three times a week, I get a warning notice that states-

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.
The following add-on was running when this problem occurred.
Add-on Name : Flash 10a.ocx
Company name: Adobe systems
Description: Adobe Flash layer."

I uninstalled and redownloaded Adobe Flash Player this morning and I have just had the notice appear again. When I click on "okay" to the notice it closes IE and I can restart it with no problems. The only add-on by Adobe Systems activated in IE is Shockwave Flash Object. Could this be the offending culprit??

Any advice as to how I can overcome this problem would be appreciated. Running Vista.

Many thanks
Smithie

Not sure where the file are on Vista but what you will need to do is find the flash10a.ocx file and copy it as flash.ocx.

To do this, browse to the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folder. Locate the flash10a.ocx file and right click it and select copy. Now just right click in a blank spot of the same folder and select paste. You will then find you have a file called Copy of Flash10a.ocx in the folder. Right click the new file and select rename and change the name to flash.ocx.

Once complete, the error should be history.

Sometimes you have to completely remove flash player before reinstalling it, the add/remove programs doesn't get every thing.

You can try Flash Player Uninstaller - that rips it out completely.
