    Default Worst Dishwashers

Was having a surf looking at user reviews on dishwashers in general for someone when I came across this site:

    http://www.consumersearch.com/dishwasher-reviews/review

The highest repair rates go to a couple of imported brands -- Asko (Sweden) and Fisher & Paykel (New Zealand) -- along with Maytag. In one survey, these brands had a repair rate that's almost twice as high or more than other dishwashers.

Fisher & Paykel is mainly known in the U.S. for its DishDrawer models. While appliance enthusiasts love the look of the DishDrawer models, they are expensive and prone to leaks, pump problems and control issues.

In U.S. surveys, about one-quarter of all DishDrawer models need repairs.

Fisher & Paykel also earns low scores for long-term reliability at Choice magazine, an Australian review publication similar to Consumer Reports.

In one survey, Fisher & Paykel models had the highest repair rate of any dishwasher brand.

We had to replace our Dishlex 500 recently (brilliant machine!) with an F&P (but NOT a dish-drawer).

The new machine's racks aren't as well-designed as the Dishlex and the drying of the dishes is a joke - you have to open the door!!!

    Plus it's noisier.

    I hate it!

But Dishlex weren't being made anymore...

Ours is a Simpson, Came with the House when we moved in 4 years ago, so dont know exactly how old it is.
Only problem we have ever had is as soon as you empty it - the damn thing fills up again - Seems we go through a lot of dishes

IMHO the worst is Simpson. I have had a couple in motels and a rental place and they are exceptionally noisy and don't do a great wash.

Best is ASKO. I have owned 4 of them in different homes and they do a fantastic wash and are very quiet. I just recently decided to upgrade from an old ASKO white dial model to a stainless top of the lone Bosch. The Bosch is slightly noisier and does not do as good a wash as the old ASKO.

I would get another ASKO any way over any other model.

F&P are not real quiet either we have had some of those in Motels including the Dishdrawer models.

Ours is a sink, Manual operation, Performance tends to depend on the operator. Seems to be extremely quiet, Can't hear a thing from the lounge.

Might be a newer model than I have experienced. I think Simpson is now owned by F&P. Of the 4 or so I have had anything to do with they are a pain in the ass for their noise. Most recent was a new one in a Motel in Wanaka 2 years ago. Was too noisy to leave on at night so we put it on when we left the motel

I think I may be a contender for the worst dishwasher; certainly the hardest to get started.
