Just tried to install MBM but it partially failed, giving an
error address so it was probably not for Vista.

Speed fan or maybe Everest, possibly PC wizard 2008 all are free and will do some or all of what you want
If it is not broke, don't make it broker by trying to make it better. (This applies specifically to PJ)
