Hi, is there an easy way to transfer the programmes you have recorded on MySky from it to a PC etc?

    Cheers

    No easy way.

The only way would be to hook it up to the PC/DVD/HDD recorder via the AV outputs and record whatever you want in real time. Just like you used to do to copy VHS tapes

Or burn it to DVD then rip it onto your PC.

Not sure how legal this is though

No I don't think there is any method for taking files off my sky. USB, Network or anything.

Your only method is to "record" them with another recording device, ie video, dvd recorder.

The MySky HDI is similar, you can record the HD files to watch them on the mysky, but can;t get them off in HD to archive to disk etc. In my mind, this is the main reason why i don't see the point in one.

Also you can't record in the lounge and watch somewhere else.. but hey, i guess it's easier than building your own pvr..

Don't think that works yet? I have a feeling a firmware upgrade is going to come out at some stage to 'enable' it. Same with the ethernet? Correct me if I'm wrong...

I would be very surprised, and very doubtful that Sky would allow people to copy files off their MySky boxes.

Also you may not realise that files held on the mysky box are encrypted, as they are only decrypted when the user tries to playthem back. They are taken from the satellite and stored in encrypted format.

The only way i can think of is a Firmware hack, or opening it, taking out the hard drive, and decoding the File system, then decrypting the files. Good luck with that. Oh, and you're not allowed to open the box either. Maybe if it was "Stolen"...

i dont think sky will like it if you open. even if you burn it on a dvd you wont be able to maintain the HD resolution.
