    Does Excel not open it?

    Or Open Office Calc?

If Excel can't open them there might be a filter on Microsoft's site to allow it to do so.

In Excel when you try to open them change the "Files Of Type" box to Microsoft Works 2.0 Files *.wks, it might help open them.

If you still can't you might have to install Microsoft Works to read them.

Or try Open Office which is "cheaper"

Well that is true of course. I should not have assumed that he already had MS Office like a lot of people already have.

    Hi guys!
Got office 2003 and managed to open exl files. PC asks for wks program to open the rest of files.
Just wonder if I can get wks free from somewhere?

The other problems is that PC doesn't recognize one floppy and asks to insert the disk.

What about using the CD of Office 2003, and checking that all the 'converters' are installed (ie modifying the installation)? If the correct converter is installed, it may enable those older files. Cheers.

have a look at This page from MS down the bottom, second from the bottom is a converter, you may be able to convert the files from wks to Office 2003 formats.

Cant try it as I dont have any works files.

    Hi guys!
Thanks for the help. Used converter in office 2003 and opened all files.
One problem left - one floppy not recognized. PC sais that it is not formatted and offers to format it. On the disk lots of old and important files.

Try another PC with a floppy drive, if you get the same error the disk is dead.
