Default Excel tabs partly hidden behind windows taskbar

Not sure how this happened bu when I open Excel the tabs are partly concealed behind the Windows taskbar. I also noticed that the worksheet is detached form the Excel window, so when I go to minimise Excel, only the worksheet is minimised and the Excel window remains on the screen.
    How can I fix that?

You must be minimising/maximising the sheet instead of the program window.
Seperate controls for both. Maximise Program and Sheet and you should see the tabs.
