Exclamation How to boost volume on a laptop

Hi, can anyone help me with this problem. I have a friend who needs to increase the vloume level of sound coming out of his laptop (which is already at maximum volume in the settings).

Does anyone know of some software that can amp laptop volume levels? It is an HP NX6125 running Windows XP Pro with the latest sound drivers for this model installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

How about plugging into an external amplifier attached to decent speakers?
since laptops are not famous for their high audio output.

On most lappies the sound is limited for two reasons: 1) to conserve battery life, 2) because the speakers are so TINY that if you try to make them any louder they'd just distort. Go with the external amp and speakers idea.

I find this interesting because ...........

I have reasonable sound from my PC when using XP. I do not need to enhance it with external speakers.

However, with Vista it's another story. The sound is so low that I do need external speakers even though the slide control in Vista is set to its highest.

Anyone got any ideas to be able to at least get a similar volume on Vita as to XP?

I bought some little speakers that plug into the headphone socket for $15.

Works nicely, they still going after about a years worth of use.

Same problem with me too. Have reverted to headphones to try and hear better.

ANSWER 1: Buy a hearing aid.
ANSWER 2: Sit closer to the speakers.
ANSWER 3: Buy a Bose stereo and plug it in.
ANSWER 4: Turn off the wife.

The last one is very difficult but not impossible, it can be quite expensive.
