Yes, it will need to be changed in his accounts settings. Not sure where they are in Outlook but in Outlook Express they are as follows:
Tools > Accounts > highlight his ISP account > Properties > Email address.
A person I know (but not that well) contacts me by email. I have his email address (jsmith_at_xtra) and have no probs contacting him EXCEPT when I reply to him using 'Reply' in the email (Outlook). After it bounces back to me I see [mailto:jsmth_at_extra.co.nz]. As you can see, he has spelt his name incorrectly (should be: jsmith) and there is an extra 'e' in 'xtra'.
I suspect he is on Dialup, but will ask, but how does he correct and change the errors - I have a feeling these errors are self-inflicted (in his computer, not mine!).
Many thanks for your help, as always.![]()

Yes, it will need to be changed in his accounts settings. Not sure where they are in Outlook but in Outlook Express they are as follows:

It'll be the "reply-to" address he's defined in whatever email client he uses.

Get them to change their settings on their computer.

Sorry - quite clear.![]()
But I'm not at my own computer to check out the fine detail! I'm still don't know if he is using Outlook, or Outlook Express - is it the same for both?
And is it different for Broadband than for Dial-up? I had a look on my PC (I use Broadband) and can sort it for me/my set-up. I seem to remember it being different with Dial-up, but can't remember the detail at this stage....

I think it will be under Tools > Email Accounts but am not entirely sure as I don't use Outlook here myself.
The settings will be no different for dialup as they are for broadband as they are specific to the email client itself.
In outlook it is under tools -> email accounts...
In outlook express, as Foxy mentioned above.
He needs to change the 'Reply To' field so that it is his correct email address (I think even leaving it blank will default it to his email address). Broadband or Dial-Up makes no difference.
