Hi, just wonder how can i stop some software, such as messager, start up when i sign in.

Click on start-run and type msconfig in the space then click OK.
On the startup tab untick those items you do not want to start and click OK.
You will be prompted to reload windows.
Be carefull what you inhibit some of them are essential to the running of security systems.

Check out pacs-portal for a list of programs at startup. Very thorough.

Have a look in start, all programs, startup. Anything in that folder will be automatically started on startup.

Actually you can prevent Windows Messenger from running on startup, through the use of the simple 'Run Windows Messenger when Windows Starts' option box in the preferences tab of Windows Messenger options.

Or get this from here and remove messenger altogether. Its buggy.

And use MSN Messenger or the Live version thats just come out.

If you are using XP you can just stop the services running, and either disable the program or set it to manual
