    Default Help!How do I get rid of X rated ads on my screen

    How do i get rid of unwanted ads that keep popping up on my screen when i browse the internet. They are not the ads on web pages. They appear on my computer screen everytime i log into the internet.

    You'll most likely need to download and run Adaware and Spybot(a quick search on google.com will find them). Then either use another web browser, popup blocker or an alternative front end (such as Avant) to IE to stop pop-ups in future.

    It exploits a weakness in messenger apparently run spybot may help

    You could also have a look at the excellent FAQ on Basic Maintenance at this site.

    Got to the FAQS button top right.

    (takes a while to load but the amswers are there )

    Have to point out, however, that the one Sammy needs is FAQ #8b Spyware rather than the Maintenance one.

    Note that #8b is right down the bottom of the FAQ page for some strange reason. Also, it should not take long to load being as it is a new thread. :-)

    Hi Sammy

    If you are running Windows XP and these "ads" pop up in a Windows-like dialog box headed "messenger service" (or similar words), you should disable Windows Messenger Service on your computer. Note, this is not the same program as MSN Messenger or MS Messenger Instant messenger programs.
