    Default Hyundai Computers from Farmers

Anybody have any feedback, good or bad, about these?

Sorry Chris, I don't know anything about those machines, but I was intrigued by the radio advertising that Farmers ran prior to release of the Hyundai PC's. Initially they claimed that the PC came "complete with Sun StarOffice, which is 100% compatible with MS Office". The following week the ad stated "complete with Sun StarOffice, which is totally compatible with MS Office". Finally, the ad was modified to "complete with Sun StarOffice, which is compatible with MS Office".

Somebody must have been listening to them.

I was unable to find out anything about this brand on the internet. They are more than likely a rebadged Dell or something similar.

If they are anything like the car, they will be cheap and nasty

Hyundai have made computers for quite a few years. (Why would they "rebadge Dell"? They're a much bigger company than Dell).

I have a Hyundai Network terminal ... it's a diskless 8086 with an onboard Ethernet interface. It starts (with the boot ROM) looking for a Netware server. Quite well made.

I've found Hyundais to be quite good quality. Retail pricing always leaves a lot to be desired, though. The monitors are good value also.

Anyone ever bought a Hynix ram chip before? Now thats what you call rebadged. We've never had a return on one before.

Hyundai PCs have the *old* nVIDIA TNT2 32MB Graphics card which is ok for web surfing, word processing, DVD viewing, video viewing but not 3D games.

If you plan to play ANY modern 3D game, I don't recommend you to buy a Hyundai PC unless you upgrade the Graphics Card to the latest.

For maximum compatability, wait a few more months for the GeForceFX by nVIDIA OR ATI Radeon 9700

For Budget Graphics card, I would get GeForce4 MX. It uses technology which is a few years old, but is fast enough to power at least 60% of games out today.

Oh, I thought I had a tnt2 in my machine... but perhaps I don't, cause my 3d games seem to run quite well... can you tell me what card I really do have?

According to one site I have found, there is a tie-up with Compaq:
