Is this a healthy system? Is this what we called 'Democracy'? Is this the system we want?
Well it is a whole lot better than first past the post.
I preferred STV and voted for that at the time.

its a pretty bad situation when put like that

The 1st time (with bolger), his bottom lines were really quite good : more police etc
2nd time (labour) , he did upset our major trading partner . Not a good look with his seemingly anti-asian stance pre-election.

Both times, it seemed to me that Nat/Lab both used him as a whipping boy, blaming stuff on him . He came out out it not looking too good.

was first past the post really any worse ?
no backroom deals, no 3rd party pulling the strings . No loony parties who didnt win a single seat getting multiple MP's

Only downside of FPTP was, if your local MP was truley awefull (were I live) , you're put in a spot if its his party you want in power

MMP is the worst thing ever.

    Period!!
I worked for everything I have. Most successful people have done the same thing.
No, you aren't "entitled" to it. Too damn bad, Get it the way I did.
    WORK FOR IT.

There was a major problem with first past the post.
A party could gain more than 50% of the vote, yet not get in because they had all their support
concentrated into fewer electorates than another party.
