    Hmmm.
I got a bathroom guy in last week to fix the area round my bath, it had a single line of tiles, not so much the grout as the fact that it didn't cover the gap properly and had been patched endlessly over who knows how long.

He had excellent feedback and was highly recommended.

It became apparent pretty fast he was out of his depth and he made a hell of a mess.

I fired him and we ended up doing something totally different to solve it ourselves.
Guess you can't always trust the feedback either.

Any good reliable plumber will do the job. Installing a shower is elementary work for them.

Some plumbers have told me that they have to use a shower installer or the warranty is not valid.

I have been quoted by two plumbers for about $300 for a standard install

Just got an email reply from gsi (Guaranteed Shower Installations):

"We come to site and supply you with a quote via email for the job. This site assessment is: $120.00+gst."

    Email deleted.

Just got someone who is more friendly coming tomorrow for an estimate (free). See how it goes.

I agree 100%. Probably the best thing ever invented.

Could probably do without a fan but there are other steam makers in a bathroom. Basin, toilet etc

    Gosh. That was TMI.

I was looking at getting one when my bathroom was reno'd, but was advised it was better to have a decent extractor fan above the shower instead. Plumber reckoned he saw more leaks with shower domes as the trapped hot moist air caused a higher air pressure which encouraged water to travel behind joins etc which wouldn't have occurred otherwise.

Shower domes are good, but if you have a shower curtain or a door that does not go all the way up to it they are less effective.
Basically you need to seal all the steam into the shower for them to work.

I have a feeling my bathroom broke all kinds of regulations, I just got a builder/ handyman and a plumber to help me convert an old bedroom and a tile installer to do the floors. Not a single one of them said anything about permits or warranties. Great bathroom though, I just may have a problem if I decide to sell the house.
